                                          Fender Jazzmaster -  A brief history
The
Jazzmaster was introduced in 1958 as Fender’s top of the line model and
was intended to allow Fender to enter the electric jazz market. Fender
designed the pickups to produce a deeper mellower tone than the popular
Stratocaster and Telecaster models. Jazz players did not particularly
like the guitar however it proved very popular with “surf” bands of the
time. It had a pleasing contoured body and 2 pickups.  It was
discontinued in 1982 however there was a reissue version in 1987.  The
body style was carried over to the Jaguar which appeared in 1961.The 1963 Fender Jazzmaster
 
A
nice red Jazzmaster.  The finger board is now veneer Rosewood rather
than a slab board fingerboard (a change made in 1962).  In 64 the clay
dot inlays are changed to pearl inlays. This guitar is an original Fender, not duplicated. Visible wear on paint, yet everything else is like new. Appraised at $3,000 lowest cost. I also bought an authentic American Fender Jazzmaster wiring, bridge and Tremolo, both of which were $100 each. The neck and body were right around $200 each. The case is a reissue aftermarket and has a couple scuffs from being around and comes with the keys. Everything is untouched ready for your next project, just not mine. This particular example, serial number 156408 (F-plate), is in very excellent 100% all original condition and includes the original Salt & Pepper hard shell case! SEAFOAM GREEN Jazzbird guitar – a Firebird + Jazzmaster hybrid custom build

Up for auction is a single one-off custom Jazzbird guitar ordered from and built by Warmoth. It plays great and sounds awesome.  The pickups are two mini-humbuckers: 1 Seymour Duncan (bridge) and 1 Altec (neck). The knobs include 1 volume, 1 tone, and a 3-way switch. Scale length (bridge to nut) is 25-1/2 inches. Frets are jumbo nickel-silver barely used, no wear. The maple neck is truly flawless. I have 40+ guitars so they don’t all get played that often. The body has faint scratches and small gouge in the wood left of the neck pickup. This thing rules, buddy!!! Awesome for loud indie rock. This custom guitar was loosely inspired by the green Jazzbird famously used by Grant Nicholas of the Welsh band Feeder. The Jazzbird Firemaster consists of a Gibson Firebird-style body with Fender Jazzmaster-style floating tremolo tailpiece and neck. I am only selling because the size and shape of the Firebird-style body is awkward for a short person like me. The custom build cost $1400 originally.  Winning bid takes this rare one of a kind guitar, no reserve.

Fender ’62 Reissue Jazzmaster Japan MIJ Guitar Excellent Block Inlays

Oh so very sweet… this Fender Jazzmaster model electric guitar is in outstanding condition and very easily earns an excellent overall condition rating. The serial number starts with a “T” plus 6 digits, indicating production was 1994-95 and I cannot imagine finding another one 17 years old in any better condition than this. The “candy apple” red finish just sparkles, all hardware is clean and shiny. With hardly any signs at all of it having ever been played I would say it is safe to say that this guitar must have spent most of its life stored away in a closet. Of special consideration please note that this guitar has anodized gold toned metal pickguard, also block fingerboard inlays and that the fingerboard itself is bound with crème binding… I mention this because most of these MIJ reissues have plastic pickguards, plain dot inlay, and unbound fretboards. There are no problems, no issues, no repairs, and everything operates as it should so there are no surprises here… some player or collector is going to be very pleased with this truly classy very well built guitar. We are also including a brand new Fender Deluxe gig bag and please keep in mind that our professional instrument Technician has completely gone over and checked out this instrument (as we do with all our instruments) and we have adjusted and set it up to insure that it is in the BEST possible playing order, so that all the winning bidder will have to do is enjoy it.

With the camera flash and lights, the gold toned anodized metal pickguard appears almost silver in the pictures, when it is actually more of a mellow gold color… like those seen on some of the old vintage 1950 and 1960 era Jazzmaster guitars.
