1968 Fender Stratocaster Neck – Real Vintage

This auction is for a 1968 Fender Stratocaster Neck stamped 22 Nov 68 B (22 is the model number for a Stratocaster, Nov is the month, 68 is the year and B is the nut width 1 5/8 “Normal Width for a Strat”).  Please read the entire description as there are no returns.  I have owned and played this neck since 1973.  The back of the neck has no finish to it and has been well maintained with the proper wood oil over the years and a lot of sweet and love.
Specs
·         Large 1968 headstock
·         Indian Rosewood Veneer Fingerboard with pearl dot position markers.  Beautiful well taken care of fingerboard.  The pearl dot markers are pitted and you can see that from the pictures
·         The truss rode is in proper working condition
·         V neck profile (Ok here is the mystery of this neck.  It is a true V profile but very very thin.  My best guess is that someone before I owned it shaved it down or it was custom ordered that way, I don’t have a proper answer).  It’s as thin as 62 C profile.  You can still feel the pronounce V, so if you like V necks and thins necks this is your calling
·         Frets are vintage and original Dunlop 6230 (.078” x .043”) They do have a reasonable amount of life left to them.  Pictures will show the wear.
·         The original tuners were F logo off set zig zag design.  You can see the original screw pattern on the back.  They were replaced with Schaller tuners and the back tuner holes were enlarged.  The enlargement stops about 1/16 inch before the front of the headstock.  I do not think the front holes were enlarged.  This was also done before I owned the neck in 1973. There are 2 broken screw in the holes where the Schallers were secured into the neck.  They will come out easily with small needle nose pliers. 
 ·         The String tree is original
·         The nut is original to the best of my knowledge and was on the neck when I purchased it. 
·         The bottom of the neck has been doweled and re-drilled but it was professionally done and hold screws securely in place (see picture)

1987 MIJ Squier Fender Stratocaster – Not For Export

This is a special piece. Virtually identical to the earlier JV, SQ, ST357, ’57 reissue Squier stratocasters. This E-series Strat made in the Fuji-Gen Gakki plant is a flawless example of Fender Japan at its finest. After Fender realized that the quality/price of MIJ Fenders was killing US sales, Fender Japan began making “For Export” E-Series guitars in the mid 1980′s. These are common (200-500 on the bay, depending on pickups and how not-weird the tremolo and nut are!) and can be identified by the silver headstock lettering and serial number on the headstock. They are excellent guitars, but noticeably lower-quality than what Fuji-Gen was capable of in the early days. (Ask anyone who’s played or owned a JV Fender). For the Japan domestic market, Fuji-Gen continued making instruments of superior quality, as they had been during the JV days (’83-85). These “non-export” models can be identified by gold headstock-lettering, serial numbers on the lower neck bout, exceptional machining, finish, and wood selection (one or two piece body in almost all cases), higher-quality stamped Gotoh tuners, and a neck to rival the finest produced for American Fenders during the modern era. This is not a collectors item, but a fantastic guitar for the discerning player. Here are the reasons it isn’t a collector’s item: -American Vintage series big-block tremolo with bent steel stamped-Fender saddles, professionally appointed. -American Standard series alnico pickups (from a 1995 American Standard stratocaster–the pickguard, pickup covers and knobs are all original), professionally wired. -American F-logo neckplate, don’t know why, guess it seemed cool at the time. Everything else is totally stock and in EX+ condition. There are the perhaps the slightest signs of wear on the body, but no real nicks, dings or scratches at all. The neck is flawless (it’s insane how mint it is is for being a 24 year-old guitar). The story of its ownership: bought by an American fellow on business in Japan and brought back to the states, sold to yours truly guitar by a guitar player friend who made the enhancements you find, most recently professionally set up in April 2011, plays like a dream come true. Selling for financial reasons. Virtually no fretwear, clean as a dream. These don’t come around often, I’ve looked! Page era Fender Custom Shop 65 Strat Stratocaster Neck

This is a truly amazing NOS 1998 maple capped neck produced during the John Page era of Fender Custom Shop. It’s got light birdseye maple and this is the first year of the New Old Stock series by Fender (probably team masterbuilt). It is just stunning and is in excellent condition  from the best of Fender Custom Shop.  
These necks are top of the line Fender, it’s a breeze to play with its rolled edges and thin Nitro lacquer.
The specs on the neck are a standard ”C” profile, vintage 7.25 radius, 21 Vintage size frets (near mint), a 1.65 nut and factory Kluson tuners. New old stock NOS is stamped into the butt of the neck.
The neck is in very good condition, It is straight and true, showing very minor signs of use, but nothing that detracts from playing, ready for your project or as a replacement neck. You may not find a better neck out there, so bid to win.
