interesting instruments.  Being retired has its advantages.I make it a policy to never sell a guitar that has not been completely gone over by my luthier prior to offering it–i hate buying an instrument from someone who doesn’t know about guitars but thinks that it looks pretty–i’m also not an expert–so i make sure everything i sell–unless otherwise noted–is cleaned, polished, new strings, electronics checked and adjusted if necessary, frets checked, fretboard oiled, neck angle checked, intonation optimized (for my preferences) and black lighted for any previous repairs or damage by my luthier–this costs me $100 but it is well worth the peace of mind that comes with offering an instrument you know is going to be well received.  If he finds something i either fix it or note it in the item description.This is a super-sweet looking CS-356 with what i’d call a carmel burst top finish, and
natural back and sides. The combination of the two colors looks
excellent, and the gold hardware is classy as always. The slim taper
neck profile and 12″ radius make it a great player as well.  The neck is a superfast platform for lead players as well as a comfortable handful for rhythm players–about perfect.  It features a single
piece mahogany body that is tonally carved to include the back, rims
and center block from one piece of wood. Added to that are the figured
top, and ebony fretboard to give the guitar a classy look with plenty of
functionality.  The Abalone inlays are simple and elegant without looking excessive.This is pretty remarkable–like the ES-446–this ES-356 has the braces carved from the same piece of wood as the top so there’s no break in resonation giving huge sustain and deep acoustics–the sound through the 57 Classics is beyond lovely—-as the review pasted below attests–this is one of the best guitars to come out of the Custom Shop–ever.

WOW!! Vintage 1949 Gibson ES-350 Hollowbody Electric Jazz Guitar • WORKS GREAT

This came from a large store buyout and we have literally hundreds of guitars and basses piled up, ready to sell, and we do not have the time or resources to closely inspect every one. Some guitars listed might need some basic maintenance (intonation, bridge or neck adjustment, etc.) in addition to any specific issues mentioned. There are definitely some gems in the lot, so be sure to check in regularly!Up for a NO RESERVE auction is this used vintage 1949 Gibson ES-350 HollowBody Electric Guitar in full working condition. Amazingly, we plugged this in with no cleaning of any kind and all controls work as expected and are static free. The neck is straight and true, the original P-90 pickups sound great and this plays easily. This shows wear in the finish, including scratches and significant finish peeling on the bottom/end. Unfortunately, there is one crack in the side extending from both sides of the 1/4″ jack connector hole, and there may be a crack in the cutaway area on the other end of the body (see photo below – it may just be a finish crack, we can’t tell for sure). Otherwise, there are no other cracks or loose internal bracing, and the wood is beautiful. The bridge pickup does show some oxidation and looks to have been raised up quite a bit, but it functions perfectly. The tuners all work, but feel “loose” and probably need to be tightened inside. Features a volume and tone control, and a rotary pickup selector pot. This appears to be all original, and the serial number, A3656, dates this to 1949. Comes with the original hard shell case in average condition with some broken areas. We’re starting this at just $0.99 – everyone has a shot!Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
