This Gibson Custom ES-335 Dot Figured Gloss really stood out in the store with its big tone and stunning flamed maple top and back.  It is fat sounding, all across the fret board with open strings ringing and sustain with good articulation and clarity. Definitely not one of the cheap Satin or Plain Gloss finishes which are valued at hundreds less.  Figured maple top and back, Straight mahogany neck, Rosewood fretboard, Pearloid inlays, Grover tuneomatics, ’57 classic humbucking pickups, 2 Volume, 2 Tone, 3-Way Selector Switch. 
 
Received final Gibson inspection on January 10th, 2010 (note date on Pre-Pack Checklist) and manufactured in December 2009, this fine instrument will make you a life long friend.  Lightly played at home, no fret wear, some very light surface marks but no major scratches or dings as can be seen by the pictures; beautiful guitar in nearly new condition.
 
Comes with original Gibson Custom hardshell case, Gibson certificate of authenticity, and warranty card (non-transferrable), and will be properly packaged in Gibson guitar box.

Right from its introduction in 1958 as the world’s first semi-hollowbody electric guitar it has been a mainstay of players eager to balance the gorgeous, round, mellow tones perfect for jazz and blues with the edge and sustain of a full-blooded solidbody.  Today the Gibson Custom Shop creates exacting duplicates of the ES-335 as it first left the Kalamazoo plant in 1958. That year just 267 were built, but the original vintage 335s grew steadily in popularity.
 
The ES-335 retains its classic proportions: 16 1/2-inches wide, 20-inches long, and 1 3/4-inches deep. interesting instruments.  Being retired has its advantages.This beauty has just come–as all my personal guitars do–right from the luthier prior to offering it–it has been set up–the strings are new–the electronics have been cleaned where necessary and pick up height has been optimized–fretboard has been oiled and the entire guitar has been cleaned and polished–it’s a big wow waiting to be appreciated.

This is about as perfect a guitar as you can find that isn’t brand new–it’s in immaculate collector’s condition–very very insignificant swirlings here and there as on the pickguard–none of which show up or barely show up in the scans–it sparkles and even the gold hardware has very close to zero tarnishing–just a drop dead gorgeous guitar.This X-170 was born in the final year of the old Guild Westerly Rhode Island plant–the Guild luthiers who worked in that plant as well as the players that play their instruments agree that the highest level of craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality of tone woods was at its zenith during the Rhode Island period.  Good Guilds are still made but nothing compares to a Westerly made Guild.From Jazz where it is famous to rockabilly where it began to Blues where it is carving out a significant reputation–the Guild X-170 Westerly Made is a remarkable player’s guitar–the specs are–fingerboard

I am culling the herd.Over the years I have accumulated way too many guitars and I’ve decided to move some of them along.  This is one of them.  Hard choices to be made, yes, but . . . it’s time.This is a beautiful Gibson ES 335 which is in flawless condition.  Really.  I defy anyone to find a scratch of any kind.  It’s as new.  The color is striking Cherry Red, clear finish, with the grain in the top visible, like a fine piece of art.I’ve played it, but it generally lives in its Gibson plush case; I don’t even put it on my guitar stand.Not much to say about how it plays; it’s a Gibson and it possesses that unmistakable Gibson Memphis sound.  You can damn near smell Charley Vergo’s ribs and that heavenly chocolate cake from Miss Cordelia’s.  And of course, the stale beer on Beale.  Yeah, nothing like a hot muggy day and last night’s beer.  Right.  You bet.The original documents and the Guitar Center $3,468 tag.I also have a custom made Gledura 24 fret Pegasus available, not as yet listed, and also in new condition. Gibson Es-339 50′s Neck with Lollar Pickup

Es-339 with 50′s neck. Condition is very good. There are a couple light pick “scuffs” and a hint of hazing on the back from where it was resting on the hanging stand, about 1/2″ by 4″. Both are small enough that I could not get them to show in photos.It has been converted to 50′s wiring. HUGE improvement over the old circuit. A lollar single coil for humbucker route pickup was installed. In essence it’s a p-90. The original 57 classic is included ( see photo ). Great guitar from gibsons custom shop. 2008 Gibson Custom Figured Top ES-335 w/ Bigsby

Regretfully, I’m being forced to sell my cherished 335. This is my dream guitar, and it makes me sick to have to unload it, but unfortunately I need the cash. This is the Custom Shop model with the figured top, complete with Certificate of Authenticity. Please understand this is a player’s guitar and shows normal signs of wear as well as an additional few marks that are worth noting. There are marks on the back of the head/neck joint from a student on our worship team putting the guitar on an unpadded stand. There are also a couple of small chips on the top. I’ve done my best to capture them in the photographs to ensure the buyers expectations are clear. This guitar is of the highest quality but, as I mentioned, it’s been played well. This is going to be an amazing bargain for some lucky buyer. These are selling for $3149 new!!! I also had a NON-DESTRUCTIVE Bigsby Kit installed from ZZGuitarWorks ($225 value). This is a sad day for me. I bought this, to add to my collection, the first or second year of this body style release. It has been in the case since. I collect guitars as a hobby and also as an investment and this is one of those unfortunate times I have to dip into my investment and pick something to sell.  I did plug it in and rip a couple leads and rhythms on it, for about 3 min. I put it back in the case and its been that way since. This one has the 30/60 neck. I will post many more pictures. All will reveal the pristine condition, so bid freely.Classic semi-hollow body sound from a solidbody-sized guitar.The ES-339 is the next generation from the Custom Shop of Gibson’s iconic ES electric guitars. It goes where no guitar has gone before with a bold, new semi-hollow tone that is rich with expressive, even stinging, overtones. The ES-339 has some exciting enhancements including Memphis Tone electronics, the 30/60 slender neck profile, and reduced dimensions and weight. Memphis Tone electronics Memphis Tone circuitry utilizes 500K audio taper pots that operate with an interactive load that preserves high end as you turn down the volume. The loading effect preserves the full-bodied tone with rich midrange and singing sustain from the ’57 Classic humbuckers while adding a very sweet bite. Another difference is the volume is very smooth, rolling off in even increments along with the numbers on the knobs. Since they operate more like how we hear (logarithmically), the controls work the way the player thinks they should. So when the guitarist turns down the volume the highs are still there! 30/60 Neck Developed in assistance from guitar guru Jon Schwartz. The 30/60 slender neck is a ’60s style neck with an extra .030″ front-to-back to preserve the semi-hollowbody tone, sustain, and feel while providing smooth playability (The rounded ’59 neck profile is also available on the ES-339 ’59 Neck – product #515255). Reduced dimensions and weight The ES-339 builds on the success of the semi-hollowbody guitars first introduced by Gibson in 1958 with the ES-335.
