Made in the USA

This Explorer was made in the United States in 1990 and
features a mahogany body with a mahogany neck
with a 24.75″
scale rosewood
fingerboard with 22 frets and white dot inlays. The
guitar has a Black finish. The electronics consist of 2 Gibson
humbucker
pickups controlled by a 3
way  switch  and a volume
control for each pickup and tone control. 
 The knobs are black
speed
knobs. The guitar has Grover  tuners with “kidney bean”
keys.  The bridge is a
Gibson
tune-o-matic with a stop tailpiece.  The hardware has a chrome finish.
The guitar has some wear on the
body and belt buckle rash on the rear. There are a couple of
dings on the body edges and playing scratches and wear on the body and
neck. There is some corrosion on the pickup magnet poles and mounting
screws.
There are no breaks, cracks, or old repairs. The neck is straight and
the
truss rod can adjust the relief to your preference.  The frets
are in good condition and there is no wear to the rosewood fingerboard.
This guitar has some bumps and bruises so you can gig with it
without worry.  A
Gibson hardshell case is included although
the combination lock is broken but the latches work.

Unlike other upgraded Les Pauls this one DOES NOT have holes in the headstock from the original Kluson tuners. There are No New screw holes anywhere on this guitar. Every plate and pickguard upgrade is a factory drop in and uses the original screw holes.

As exquisite to look at as it is to play; this amazing, ultra-versatile, sonic work-of-art is a collector’s item in the making! No longer in production, this stunning arched-top beauty is a shining example of Gibson’s Custom Shop craftsmanship.
Featuring a book-matched, carved, tiger/flamed-maple top mated to a semi-solid, single-cutaway mahogany body; 22 fret compound radius bound ebony fingerboard; 2 Gibson ‘57 humbuckers; and gold-plated hardware offset by a luxurious caramel finish; this drool-worthy guitar just begs to be plugged in and played.

Tonally speaking, this expressive axe comfortably fills the gap between a Les Paul and ES-335! Whether your comping lush Jazz chord melodies, picking stinging Blues solos, or churning out massive Rock rhythms,
there probably isn’t a “humbucking” sound you can’t coax out of this rare and desirable instrument. Bottom line: not only will you be blown away by the looks of this guitar, but its incredible tonality will
make you think you died and went to heaven!

As the one-and-only owner of this six-stringed stunner I can attest to its originality and condition…which in a word, is IMPECCABLE! The only semi-noticeable flaw is a very small fingerprint/smudge in the laquer on the “point” of the cutaway.
Someone likely touched the guitar there before the finish had fully dried. The yellow circled area in the last photo shows where it’s located. Beyond that, there are a couple of light barely-visible hairline surface scratches
on the bottom of the back of the guitar (which can’t be photographed because they’re so slight) and some minor plating irregularities on the front of the tailpiece closest to the bridge. These imperfections are truly almost invisible and require
careful examination to even be seen.

For all practical purposes, this guitar is nearly indistinguishable from a brand new instrument. I kid you not! Fret and fingerboard wear is non-existant and it plays like a dream. Even better, this particular
specimen has NEVER performed publically. It’s been under my smoke-free care and only used for home recording projects and personal enjoyment. The HSC, by the way, is in similarly great shape (with only a couple of minor
scuffs and dings) and comes complete with all the original “case candy” and the Gibson Custom, Art & Historic Certificate of Authenticity.

As mentioned in the very beginning, the Pat Martino Custom is no longer being produced. The original retail price of this guitar was $3,600! A late-model exceptional-condition specimen like this one is a rare bird indeed and will only INCREASE IN VALUE with age and the appropriate TLC.
So here’s the down and dirty: this wicked-cool, cherry-condition, lust-inducing tone monster plus HSC can be yours if you’re a true connoisseur who understands and appreciates the concept of value! Given the relative scarcity of a
model in this condition, it’s pretty unlikely Santa left one under your tree this last Christmas. Why not take matters into your own hands and give yourself a gift that will most assuredly keep on giving?
