The only thing we could find was 1: non original strap locks and 2: a tiny imperfection behind the E tuner where some light checking/cracking took place. This is a one owner female owned guitar. It smells of basement and bar and it has been well played and well loved. She bought it new in 73-74 and has owned it ever since. We set it up in 1/17/2010 and it sounds just amazing. Not too heavy and it plays like a dream. No issues we could find and we took it apart- every screw and tuner…you name it…it is there and original. All solder joints appear to be original as well. Made in the USA in 2006! This guitar is in excellent condition! It has a few scuffs on the back but nothing that digs into the finish and all could be buffed out.

Info:  1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom with Hardshell Case
The guitars original finish has yellowed. There is some wear and light cracking. No headstock or any other type of breaks or repairs. The neck and original frets are in good condition. The nut appears to have been replaced. Pots appear to be original. The pickups seem to have had new covers put on them. They just look to good with little if any wear. The bridge and tailpiece also look newer not having much wear. The tuners are not original to the guitar. Although it looks like they were installed very early in the guitars life. The guitar is light for being a custom, just over 9 1/2 lbs. The guitar plays and sounds good. There is a little thin glob of something on the neck. This can be seen in the photos. Not sure what it is. Maybe something spilled on the guitar and dried. I have made no attempt at removing it. Not an issue and you can see right through it. Up for auction is a 1994 Gibson Les Paul Custom - 1952 Black Beauty Re-issue (S/N: 2 4487).
It has that classic Les Paul FAT sound and plays like butter.
It was purchased new in 1995. I am the original owner and it has resided in its case
for most of the years since then in a smoke free environment. It’s seldom traveled away
from home - never to a gig.

Included is the original hardshell case that was provided when it was purchased.
It’s a black Epiphone Les Paul case with the Epiphone logo removed.
You’ll probably agree that the black exterior with grey interior is more striking
for this guitar than the original equipment Gibson brown exterior case that would have been provided.
The shop had run out of Gibson cases the day I made the purchase so they substituted the black case.
The day I purchased this guitar I spent almost two hours playing the various Les Pauls
in stock and this was the overwhelming winner for FAT, DEEP, BASS sound.

The plastic knob on the Rhythm/Treble toggle switch has been replaced with a
gold plated metal one. The plastic mounting piece for the output jack
has been replaced with a gold plated metal one as well. These are both clearly shown in the pictures.
Otherwise, the guitar is all original equipment. The guitar itself weights 9.6 lbs and with the case
included weights 18 lbs. When setup properly, the action is great with no buzzing or metallic sound.

When I purchased the guitar in 1995, I was in a Jazz/Blues phase. I am really an acoustic folkie
at heart, so I haven’t played the guitar much. Since the guitar was only played regularly for a short
period of time, there is virtually no fret wear or fingerboard wear. However, since it hasn’t been played,
it will need a new set of strings and need to be setup the way you want it.
It’s a great guitar and I hate to let it go. I don’t play it, have enough challenges with my
acoustic instruments (guitar, fiddle, banjo and mandolin) and have a wife that won’t let me make any
more acoustic purchases until I sell something.
Issues
There are several minor issues which reduce the value but don’t affect the sound or playability.
Here’s a list of the issues, all minor if purchased as a player and not as a collectable.

There was a headstock crack, typical of Les Pauls, which was professionally repaired and then refinished.
The crack was not completely through the wood and there is no visible indication that a repair was made.
You can’t tell that the area was refinished. The repair was made in 1995 and there have been no issues
since that time.

DescriptionYou are looking at a 1984 Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom Guitar.  We called Gibson Customer Service about this guitar because we were unsure if it was a Studio or a Custom.  The Gibson representative explained that this is a Studio but it has all the features that the Customs had between 1984 and 1986 except the block inlays.  It also has the fast 1960s style tapered neck, triple bound body and neck, gold hardware, mother of pearl dot inlays and FACTORY Tim Shaw pickups.  There are some dings to the body so please look very close at the pictures below.  These blemishes have not disturbed the finish.  This belonged to a collector so it has not seen a great deal of playing time.  The gold finish on the pickups is worn from the edges but hard to see well from the pictures.  The guitar weighs 8.5 pounds and has a serial number of 81584528.  It is a gorgeous guitar!

The guitar has been played some, and shows some nicks, fine scratches on back and very small dings. This is a Wonderful Playing guitar for all guitar styles. The Black Ring that holds the pickup down closer to the neck is cracked and the pickup covers are worn, I bought new pickup covers and they are included in this sale, as shown in photo.
