This is a VOS model.  All VOS Les Pauls receive a thinner finishâ??nitrocellulose lacquer, naturallyâ??which is applied, sanded, and buffed much the way it was back in the day.  The VOS treatment gently ages it to look like an especially well cared for original.

Info:  This auction is for a used Gibson Custom Shop Historic Series 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Vintage Original Specification – VOS Electric Guitar, case, Certificate of Autheniticity and all case candy (instrument cable, truss rod adjustment tool, polish cloth, hang tags).  I am the original owner.  The guitar has been handled and played by me only in my temperature and humidity controlled studio.  The serial number is 6 8315.  the only issue with this offering versus a new guitar is that the case strap has separated from the case lid as pictured above….otherwise this case and guitar are basically new…and smells new too.  The guitar has been lightly used personally by me for recording only.

Info:  This is a NO RESERVE auction!! Highest bid wins this beauty!! I will not end the auction early, so please do not ask. You are looking at a Vintage Limited Edition 1976 Gibson Artisan. Serial Number: 00231146. According to the Gibson shipment total book 1937-1979, written by Larry Meiners, Gibson made only a handful of these Artisan guitars in 1976. 1976 was the first year of production of the Gibson Artisans. This beauty is one of them!! The guitar has had a new fret job with stainless medium jumbo frets (thin and tall), and the action is super nice and low due to a super nice compound fret job (radius: 12-15). The Stainless Steel frets were installed by a Master Luthier (Doug Frye at Dmara Guitars) so you know that the job was professionally done! Just the fret job cost me a cool $350. Doug also did the upgrade of the string-nut (from bone to brass) that keeps the strings at a nice and low level, so it helps with the low action. The frets feel just like butter, as they are stainless, and so any string bending seems effortless!! The guitar plays and sounds like a dream. This is a tone monster!! I have installed a new Gibson original tail piece and bridge. Both, are original Gibson parts. These cost me another cool $250 dollars. In addition, I have bought a brand new Gibson Hardshell Case which cost me another cool $200. There are only a few things that are not original: pickup rings, and possibly the pickguard. Everything else is original. The guitar has plenty scratches and marks on the laquer/finish. The laquer finish has worn off in several areas: back of the guitar body (in two areas). In two areas, also at the back of the guitar neck (one on the upper side and one on the lower side of the neck). Both areas where the laquer has been worn off are relatively large. However, all worn areas are only just on the lacquer/finish, and not the wood. These are just cosmetic flaws of the lacquer finish. Other than the laquer wear, the wood is in excellent shape! In other words, no chips, no cracks, of any kind on the wood of the guitar. All imperfections are simply on the lacquer of the finish. I will only sell to U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia. Info:  This auction is for an excellent condition Les Paul Special doublecut Custom Shop VOS model in a lovely TV White see-through finish with no reserve price.  As can be seen in the pictures, this guitar has a really well done TV white color variation that’s quite lovely, even more strking in person.  I do not know the exact year of this guitar since I am the second owner but I believe it’s from the past 4-6 years.  The guitar comes with it’s original case which is in very good condition.  The case does has a handful of scratches on the top of it but the interior is basically like new.  I also have the COA (certificate of authenticity), all the original hang tags, etc.  The guitar itself would be just about in mint condition except for one very small nick on the lower bout of the guitar, not far from the input jack (see last pic…it’s the reddish square).  The nick is mostly just through the clear coat and was there when I purchased the guitar.  It’s hard to notice it without really looking for it since the variations in the TV white color more or less disguise it, to some degree.  Apart from this, the black pickguard does have scratches on it and most of the chrome hardware is a bit tarnished but this really just adds to the whole VOS look and could be easily corrected, if so desired.  The frets look great and the guitar looks better than most new guitars hanging in one of the bigger guitar shops.  The guitar weighs approx. 7.6 pounds and is extremely comfortable.
I personally treat all of my instruments like gold and keep everything in beyond immaculate condition.  This guitar has not been played much and has spent most of it’s time in it’s case.  When I did play it, I did polish and wipe it clean immediately afterwards, hence how it’s in the exact same condition as when I purchased it a couple years ago.
