SUNBURST 1985 GIBSON LES PAUL STANDARD TIM SHAW PAF HUMBUCKERS CHAINSAW CASE NR

 PLEASE READ THE AUCTION COMPLETELY:For sale is one 1985 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Looks to be an early example of a 1959 style Les Paul Standard with 2 piece top, solid mahogany body and 1 piece mahogany neck. The finish is Heritage Cherry Sunburst, and the guitar is in decent cosmetic condition. I have owned this guitar for a few years and it plays brilliantly with no cracks or breaks in the body. If I did not already own a 1983 Les Paul Custom and a 1985 ES-335, this lovely guitar would not be up for sale. It is a great guitar for a player looking a comfortable Les Paul to play. Its weight is a little over 10 lbs and the balance between neck and body feels great. My 83 is a bit heavier, but I like its ebony fingerboard so this one is the odd one out. It does have a few minor issues:1) The original bridge had begun to develop sway back syndrome where the bridge bends downward and it becomes difficult to intonate the guitar. I do use fairly heavy strings, so the original was replaced with a Tone Pros bridge and tailpiece. The original bridge and tailpiece will be included with the guitar.2) The output jack was intermittent and had to replaced. The original will also included.3) The guitar is marked as a factory second. While it plays better than most Les Pauls I have encountered, for some reason the factory deemed this one less than expected. The neck binding does seem a bit thin and the top is not bookmatched, so these could be the reasons. Now they just saw the headstock off the neck instead selling them for slightly less.4) The pickup holding ring on the neck pickup has a break on one corner. It still holds the pickup fine, but should probably be replaced at some point. 5) The previous owner left the guitar hung on the wall, so there is a rash in the headstock region from the chemical interaction between hanger’s plastic and the guitar’s finish.6) This guitar has been played, so it has a requisite amount of worming on its back. A couple of places on the back of the neck has some finish wear. I think its condition would be thought of in the 7-8 range. Nothing ugly, just good times on the guitar. Features:-Besides the output jack, the electronics are stock. Pickups are non-stamped Shaw humbuckers. Will update auction with photos and output ratings of the pickups. From my recollection they were around 7.4 k inductance like most Shaw humbuckers.-Frets are in decent shape though a fret dressing would probably be in order. Guitar intonates fine, but I have been playing mostly in E flat with a set of .011 through .050 strings. For E standard guitar tuning, this would need an intonation and setup. This is an AS NEW, just bought and stored away condition 2009 Gibson Les Paul Historic 1959 Limited Run (only 25 made) in a very gorgeous Amber Orangeburst GLOSS finish, never made before and no more made since!! Gibson was trying new colors back in 2009 to commemorate the 50th anniversary, so they made a few batches of cool colors. This is one of them.
Look at the great flame top and Zebra pickups. I think the p/u’s are 57 classics, but not sure. The dealer told me they were but whatever, they sound just amazing. Weighs an incredible 8 1/4 lbs with no weight relief or chambering!!!
Yes, you’re right, I shouldn’t be selling this since Gibson’s new 59s are being made differently now, starting in 2012. The rosewood fretboard is now laminated and not the traditional solid rosewood. Wonder what else they are doing differently with the new reissues? Just imaine what the price and collectiblity of the past Historics will be now that wood shortage is causing manufacturing changes!!!!
