Here we have a very rare Oly White 1963 Strat in excellent original condition with an ‘A’ width neck !!! I hate to part with this one because it is a wonderful player and sounds incredible, but I need to move on to another project. The body is in very clean condition with only a few minor flaws and weather cracks in the finish, is medium weight, and resonates for days ! There are no extra routes or holes. No funny business, just a beautiful patina.
The hardware is original with the pat.pend saddles and all. It is missing two tremelo springs, but that’s it. It even has the back cover and the trem bar. The plastic is in very good shape and the green guard has little shrinkage, but does have the common crack on the mounting hole on the bass side of the neck pickup.
The neck is wonderful. As stated, it is a very rare, and EXREMELY cool, A width neck. Most were ‘B’ width, but every once in a great while, someone would order a smaller ‘A’ neck. The neck is almost new condition with little wear ! The action is very low with NO buzzing or fretting out anywhere on the neck ! It has the original string tree and single line Klusons that look vitually new ! The decal is original and perfect as is the nut.
The serial number is L068XX. The pot codes are 304 6305 indicating they are stackpole from the 5th week of 1963 along with the pancake capacitor. The switch is the original 3-way and is tight and sticks very easily between settings. The date on the neck end is ‘ 2 OCT 63 A.’ The pickups are original and sound so sweet….just like a vintage Strat should ! They are well balanced with Ohm readings as follows: bridge – 5.88…..middle – 5.78……neck – 5.71.
This is a RARE opportunity to buy a VERY RARE Strat that you just don’t see often, particularly in this clean of condition !! It also comes in an original brown tolex case with orange velour interior in very nice shape. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE !!!
