Here in Nashville- Music City USA- it is truly a Guitar Town. And the players don’t use normal guitars. Here’s a good example.
The first thing you’ll say when you pick this up is “Wow! What a neck”- so let’s start there:
NECK- this is a 1999 FENDER 60th ANNIVERSARY MIM STRAT model neck with a STRONG grain pattern- modern “C” shape, 21 nickel/silver jumbo medium frets, 9 1/2″ radius, 1 11/16″ (42mm) at the nut-that has had the standard Fender polyurethane finish stripped and then it’s been refinished with an amber Nitrocellulose finish. Leo Fender was quoted as saying that the Mexican Fenders are made from the same materials as the American Fenders, by the cousins of the guys making the American Fenders. For those that don’t know, nitro is the original finish that Fender used on all the great classic guitars in the 50′s and 60′s. They switched to polyurethane because it’s cheaper and easier to apply. Problem is, all experts agree that most of the tone of a Strat comes from the neck and the polyurethane deadens the sound- it’s a thick layer of plastic covering the neck. As you can see from the pictures, the nitro finish also allows the beauty of the wood to shine through. This neck has a beautiful grain pattern.
At XMARKSMUSIC we carefully select the necks we re-do. Prior to refinishing, the frets are crowned (re-shaped) and polished. This neck feels, and looks, like a vintage Fender – only better! If you removed the tuners you would find that prior to refinishing, all of the existing holes were filled with maple dowels, and then, the holes for the tuners were re-tapped to accommodate the new vintage style tuners. The result is a neck that is straight and not only beautiful but lets the tone out and your fingers will fly.

BODY- The body is a VINTAGE WHITE and a great example of a guitar that has seen its share of gigs but has been well taken care of- GREAT CONDITION- some pick swirl,  a few minor scrapes and other  flaws so minor that they don’t show up well in the pics. AN ALL NATURAL RELIC. This body is a great weight- 7 LBS. 14 OZ. It’s got the mass needed for lots of sustain but it’s not so heavy it will wear you out.  The body cavities have been carefully shielded with a grounded copper lining to eliminate pickup hum.
