Here we have a
very cool Strat for someone looking for a great mixture of
vintage and modern features in a pro-level guitar, with some
very nice upgrades…
A relative to
the American Vintage series (with some great changes), the Fender
Limited Edition Thin Skin Strat features an alder body with
beautiful 2-color sunburst finish which is nitrocellulose
lacquer, similar to vintage originals before Fender switched
to polyurethane.
The neck is
vintage styled with rosewood fingerboard and 21 frets, but
the fingerboard radius is the more modern 9.5″, with medium
jumbo (Dunlop 6105) frets, and has a great profile that is
thicker than the regular American Vintage series for very
comfortable playing without cramping your hand. These changes make for a very
smooth playing Strat with great action and easy string
bending. The neck also has a mild amount of figuring on the
back – very cool.
This guitar
plays and sounds fantastic. I’m just not all that into
Strats and so this one is looking for a happy home. It
weighs 7.67 pounds.
It is in great
cosmetic condition with no dents, dings, scratches,
checking, etc..
These guitars
come with two neck plates – one with the serial number and
the other which is stamped with “Limited Edition” which is
the one on the guitar currently. Both are provided.
The bridge is
the classic Fender vintage synchronized tremolo with a nice
solid steel trem block for great sustain.
* This guitar
has been upgraded with Lace Sensor Gold (neck/middle) and
Hot Gold (bridge) pickups. The tone pots have been wired to operate
the neck/middle with the first, and the bridge by itself
with the second. A .022uF tone cap has replaced the stock
tone cap. These pickups sound amazing in this guitar
and make it so much quieter by greatly reducing hum. A
fantastic upgrade to the stock pickups. The 5-way switch is
installed.
* The
pickguard has also been upgraded to a 3-ply guard.
Both the
original Custom Shop 50s pickups and the original 1-ply
pickguard are available, but are not included with the
guitar for the listed price; these will be sold in a
separate listing.
These guitars
were part of a limited run, now discontinued.
Comes with
brown case, strap, certificate, cable and tags.
