1946 Gibson ES-300
Up for auction is a circa 1946 Gibson ES-300 Guitar. The guitar features a 17 inch wide body, original P-90 pickup, Sunburst finish, Highly Flamed Maple top back and sides, old script style Gibson logo, and original open back tulip tip tuners.
This is a great players vintage archtop guitar. It has that thick ,warm, and woody P-90 tone that is great for jazz and blues. The guitar has been played with nicks, dings, finish checking, and belt buckle wear on the back. There are no headstock cracks or repairs. The neck set is good and the action is very playable.
The previous owner installed a newer trapeze tailpiece. The lower plastic strap button has broken but it included. There has been a repair at the jack (see pictures) which is very common on side jack Gibson archtops. The treble side binding on the neck looks to have either been reglued at one point or possibly replaced. There are a few glue spots in this area.
The flamed maple on the body of this guitar is extremely beautiful. This is a great players 60 plus year old guitar for the player looking for the old Kalamazoo Gibson look and feel without the price tag. Guitar comes with older chip board case.
