Gibson 1974 / 75 flying V. Hard to determine which year due to the fact that Gibson did not keep very accurate records back then. Could be a ’74 or a ’75 ??? Possibly made in ’74 and shipped in ’75 ?? Two piece mahogany body/ natural finish with rosewood fingerboard and original hard case. Serial # 5414xx. This guitar is not all original. It was bought over 18 years ago to be restored to original specs and collected. It was put in proper storage with other collectable guitars and project never got started. It has been fitted with replacement pickups. Seymour Duncan pickups in both positions, the bridge pickup is a coil splittable dual coil pickup (sticker on pickup reads DDP) with a micro switch added. Neck position is a dual coil (sticker on pick up reads SEYL). The stoptail was replaced with a Gibson USA TP-6 fine tuning tailpiece / stoptail, studs are original. The bridge is an original Gibson, pat no. 2,740,313 bridge. The tuners were replaced with Grover tuners (better performing than original klusons) no holes were drilled in headstock to install the Grovers. Also has a graphite nut. The pots and wiring are original, some additional wiring was added for a coil splitting pickup. Gibson black speed knobs. The neck and frets on this guitar are in excellent shape for its age, very little wear and strait. The back of the neck is super clean and smooth. The body is also super clean, and and very little worming or marks on back. nothing major at all. Considering that this guitar has been in a collection and in proper storage for over 18 years it has a alot of playing life left in it. Would sell for well over 3300 in original condition. The reserve is low due to the fact it is non original. Condition overall is very good. The Gibson case is original however it does have a broken handle hinge on the left side of the handle, see pic. All latches work fine and interior plush lining is in excellent shape. Paypal accepted via verified account. Strings were removed for pics. I have many more pics available upon request.
