Info: Hey! My first attempt at selling. Thanks for checking it out!
I purchased this in Arizona in 1997. Serial number number 72927539 identifies it a being numbered on October 19, 1977 in Nashville, Tenesee. A true “Custom”, this guitar plays beautifully. Ebony fretboard. Natural blond finish. Double parallelagram headstock inlay. All original pickups, pots, covers, tuners, etc… EXCEPTING! (1) replacement bridge, (2) replacement input jack. Both original parts are included in the sale.
(1) The original bridge is included with the sale. When I got the guitar, the outside four bridge saddles were worn so far that the strings contacted the body of the bridge making it impossible to set the intonation. The two interior saddles had been replaced with chrome saddles and the guitar played horribly. I was unable to ever find a set of original gold saddles. I did find a full replacement bridge made by Gibson U.S.A. It has worked flawlessly for 15 or so years.
(2) The complete original input assembly comes with the sale. The guitar would cut-out constantly when playing. I finally replaced the stock fully shielded input jack and can with an aftermarket jack and plastic attachment plate. You may throw them away when you get the original jack repaired, although, they have worked flawlessly for 15 years.
The body, neck, binding, hardware, inlay, and case are in very solid, straight shape. I love my guitar and it hurts to speak ill of it, but you are interested in the problems so…
The back of the neck is worn through to the wood from the 3rd to 12th fret. Really silky and fast, but the finish is gone. Please see the pictures.
There is some fretwear. I included a shot of the worst area, please see the pictures.
The back of the heel has a good sized scratch. There is a damn cigerette burn below the low E tuning machine. (Why no ashtray!?!) The neck/fretwire binding is cracked at the frets. There is a faded round spot on the rear of the body. The stock nut has a small chip in it between the D and G strings. The 24K gold plate is pitted or worn on some of the hardware.
Otherwise, all the binding is secure. Fingerboard is beautiful with all inlay intact. The stock pickups with stock covers blaze, and whisper, and howl, and cluck. And oh, yeah, the harmonics!
The hardshell case is wood and shaped to the contour of the guitar, but blue lined instead of purple and has no Gibson stencel so I can’t consider it original, but I don’t know everything about Gibson cases anyway.
Reserve or first bid is $1,250.00 She is worth at least that to me.& … Click For More Info
