Info: What we have here is a 2003 Gibson Historic Custom Shop 1956 (R6) Reissue with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard….yes I said Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard!!!!
Not a whole lot more I can say about this piece except it a Collectors Dream and Players wish come true! This one has a super low serial number 6 304X is in fantastic condition and since there are a grand total of 147 or so this guitar is ULTRA ULTRA RARE! All original and not some altered Les Paul that has added or subtracted things to try to make it something it originally was not…THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!!!!!
Per Gibson site the 1956 03′ Brazilian serial #’s are:
“1956 Reissue, ranging from 63001-63148-the only exception here is that number 63126 does not exist as far as i can tell”
Included are the Gibson Historic Certificate, The Custom Historic Case and all the case candy and tags you can imagine, all item that came with the guitar at purchase. The 1956 Gold Top is in fantastic condition the top is a killer dark coppery gold and the mahogany back has a ton of figuring and the Brazilian fretboard well in simple terms it is just simply amazing and really no other words can describe it accurately. I just had it set-up and intonated by legendary guitar tech James Withrow and plugged her in and felt dirty after we played her because of the amount of tone that this guitar oozes!!!! The Brazilian has a nice beefy 50’s style neck weighs in at a perfect 9.2 pounds so it is not to heavy and not too light as these LP’s go and has sustain for days! Has the P90’s which are bright and crisp, the neck is straight as an arrow and even has the rare white truss which I also verified with Gibson that a few were issued with on 03′. The Custom/Historic case is in great shape and is lined with the purple velvet.
Now I want to accurately describe the guitar to my fullest abilities and since I have sold a ton of very high end guitar I would say that my descriptions are very very accurate based on feedback from buyers. I would grade this guitar a strong 8.75 out of 10…a very very nice condition! The top is fantastic and has some pickmarks on the guard and there is a slight bump near the binding that you can barely make out in one of the pictures(I tried to shoot it but it is beyond superficial!). The back of the guitar has NO rash at all and a few swirls and the back of the neck has a tiny dent (1/4 inch)that you can see in the photo..again completely superficial and at the input jack there is a scratch and a tiny dent as seen in the pic’s, again the scratch is in the clearcoat and the dent is like a 1/4″…this … Click For More Info
