1965 Fender Mustang
Body- Seems to be the original color. There are chips in the paint, checking in the nitro (I guess it’s nitro) and some dings. The pics are about as good as I can do with my camera. None of the screw holes are stripped. There is corrosion on the bridge and some of the pickguard screws. The pickguard has some yellowing around the pickups that may clean up. I attempted to remove the pickguard for additional photos, but it would not pull up easily so I did not go any further. To avoid possible damage, I will not be attempting that again (sorry. ) The Tremelo Bar is missing and will NOT be included in the auction (We don’t have it, it’s missing, it’s gone, outta here!)
Neck-Frets seem to be in good, playable condition. I did not see any cracks in the fretboard or the neck itself. The back of the neck has a couple of dings that can be felt when playing. The tuners are in good working condition. The stamp on end of the neck reads 8DEC65B
Electronics. The slide selector switches are a little sticky, but seem to work well. The pickups have good output and the volume and tone pots work as they should. The code on both control pots reads 70-2125-0034 (250K)
The Case- I beleive it to be the original case, but I cannot guarantee that. It is in solid condtion, but one latch is broken. The interior is in good shape.
I do not have a “Buy It Now” price on the auction. I reserve the right to end the auction for whatever reason.

MODEL II
This is a great vintage guitar that came to me from the original owner. He stated that he purchased it new in 1966.The serial number is 671*** and that seems to match his story within a year either way. There are NO condition issues other than normal wear besides the volume knob being replaced with an old Framus knob that I had on hand.It is a close match and you probably would not have noticed but I thought that I should mention it.There are NO cracks, breaks or repairs to this guitar. The neck is straight, the trussrod works, the frets show some wear in the first postion but are in good shape. The strings are set reasonably low and it has just been set up with a set of light Ernie Ball 10-46 strings. It plays and sounds great. The guitar has been lightly cleaned but may use a more detailed cleaning if you are picky. The guitar has light wear throughout to the paint including small dings and some deeper finish checking that seems to show up more on European guitars. The blue color is very attractive and shows some light greening. The neck has some finish flaking on the back mainly behind the 3rd fret or so.This is very common on these old Hagstroms.Play it regularly and it will get that vintage Strat or Tele look on the back of the neck. The On/Off slider switch tends to stay on most of the time even when slid to the off postion. All the other electronics and switches work the way that they should.Overall,it is in nice shape. It came to me in a chipboard case that could not be saved. So,I am selling it in a generic gigbag that provides basic protection.Again, this is a hard one to find in this Daphne blue color and condition. It has great tones and a lightly reliced vibe.

2000 Fender Jazzmaster 1964 Inca Silver Rare Color
Posted by brian in Jazzmasters on April 8th, 2009
wonderful midrange tones. It’s all original. I have a mustang bridge on it with the barrel saddles for better stability and sustain. The original brige is included and is easy to put back on. Minor scratches and a small hairline crack on the pickguard by the volume nob that I tried to show in one of the pictures but it’s pretty small. The person that owned it before me was in a band called Ambulance LTD and you can see him playing it in several video’s like one called “Heavy Lifting”. I hate to sell it but I have too. This Jazzmaster sounds better than any of the newer U.S. or Japanese ones that I’ve tried over the last ten years or so. So good luck!On Apr-03-09 at 22:29:32 PDT, seller added the following information:This jazzmaster is made in the USA. The case is included. There is no buy it now on this listing. … Click For More Info

Small and fastâ??like a sports car! (1965 was the first full year of Mustang production). Originally designed as a â??student model,â? the Mustang was nonetheless destined for greatness, and has been seen slung over the shoulders of great players such as David Byrne, John Frusciante, Kurt Cobain, Todd Rundgren, Graham Coxon and Adrian Belew, to name but a few.
This guitar is a L Series (1963-to late 1965). The Serial number on neck plate is preceded with an â??Lâ?. This series is considered to be Pre-CBS (even though CBS bought Fender in January 1965. Sometimes an â??Lâ? serial number can be seen on a late 1962 model.

The Fender Mustang is an electric guitar by the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, introduced in 1964 as the basis of a major redesign of Fender’s student models. In the 60′s, it was used in Surf music. It attained cult status in the 1990s largely as a result of its use by a number of alternative rock bands. Early examples are generally seen as the most collectible of all the short-scale Fender guitars.
The Mustang features two single coil pickups with an unusual switching configuration, and a unique tremolo arm shared with only its derivative the Jag-Stang. It was originally available in two scale lengths..
The Fender Mustang has a 22.5″ neck and Musicmaster headstocks.
The Mustang has an offset waist, reminiscent of the Jazzmaster, but its overall styling closely followed the existing student models the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic, the slight waist offset being the main change.
Electronics
The Mustang has two angled single-coil pickups, each with an adjacent on-off-on switch, and a master tone and volume control.
The Mustang is unusual in having neither a pickup selector nor a circuit selector switch, instead just using the two pickup switches to allow the pickups to be used either singly or in parallel. The second on position reverses the phase of the selected pickup, allowing the pickups to be either in or out of phase when in parallel. This phasing option was also unusual for 1964.
It also meant that, as both pickups were floating with respect to ground, it was possible to modify the wiring to put the pickups into series either in or out of phase without excessive noise. The unusual switching could also be replaced by a conventional pickup change switch using the unused body routing already provided for compatibility with the Duo-Sonic, requiring only modification of the pickguard, and freeing the two eight-terminal pickup switches for other uses. As with many student guitars, aftermarket pickup additions and changes were also popular.
Tremolo arm
The Mustang introduced the Fender Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece, which together with a floating bridge forms the Mustang trem or ‘stang trem system. The floating bridge concept is common to … Click For More Info
