‘09 Gibson Custom 1959 ES 335 Dot Reissue AVS Gloss LTD
2009 Gibson Custom 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue AVS Gloss
It’s been 50 years since the birth of one of the most celebrated guitars in history, the 1959 ES-335 Dot. In recognition of it’s 50th Anniversary, Gibson Custom has just released this Limited Edition 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue.
Perfect to the last detail, this limited production model from Gibson Custom is indistinguishable in every way from the 335s that rolled off the line in ‘59. Starting with the traditional plain laminated maple top, back and sides, with single-ply crème binding on both the top and back, the 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue is true to the originalâ??s â??59 specs. Its one-piece, 24-¾ inch scale length mahogany neck features a long tenon, a 22-fret Madagascar rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and a rounded â??59 neck profile. In addition to its period-correct look, this guitar recreates the legendary tone of the original 1959 ES-335 by utilizing a pair of Gibsonâ??s renowned â??57 Classic humbucking pickups, which is the closest thing to original â??PAFâ? pickups on the market today. High-quality CTS volume and tone potentiometers with â??bumble beeâ? capacitors offer a fundamental electronics package, thus insuring this guitarâ??s unique tone is captured and delivered with the utmost accuracy and originality. Other traditional appointments include vintage tulip tuners, a holly headstock veneer and all nickel hardware, including an ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece. This guitar also features the Antique Vintage Sunburst thin nitrocellulose gloss finish, just like the original model. A thin nitro finish creates less interference with the natural vibration of the instrument, allowing for a purer tone. It is porous in nature, and actually gets thinner over time. It does not â??sealâ? wood but rather allows the wood to breathe and age properly.

FENDER AMERICAN VINTAGE ‘52 TELECASTER Electric Guitar
Posted by brian in Telecaster on April 13th, 2009
Fender American Vintage
‘52 Telecaster Reissue
Thanks for looking at this Fender Telecaster. One of the longest-running production models in Fenderâ??s history, the Telecaster guitar has been modified only slightly in its more than 50 legendary years, with its great strength inherent in its classic simplicity. Its premium ash body, one-piece U-shaped maple neck with 7.25â?-radius fingerboard, single-ply black pickguard and original Tele circuit with three-position switch exude vintage authenticity, as do the brass bridge saddles and ashtray bridge cover. A vintage six-saddle bridge and a modern wiring update kit are included.

Fender American Vintage Stratocaster ‘57 Reissue
Posted by brian in Stratocaster on April 13th, 2009
This auction is for a beautiful Fender American Vintage â??57 Stratocaster® in the rare and desirable Surf Green finish with a skunk stripe 7.5″ radius maple neck. This guitar is in excellent condition with only 1 very small chip in the finish as shown in the last photo. The only modification was the installation of strap locks. This guitar has been professionally set up and plays like butter. The neck is smooth and fast, and the sound is all vintage Fender. The guitar comes with the original vintage tweed hard shell case with keys, ashtray bridge cover, tremolo arm, polish cloth and extra trem springs. I am also including a Ralph Marlin Americana strap, strap locks, 2 sets of Fender Super Bullet strings (10-46), and a string winder. Serial # V150427 This guitar has been in a collection and only lightly played in a studio setting.
My reserve is at a very reasonable price for this guitar so Happy Bidding! … Click For More Info

Gibson Les Paul Classic Premium Plus excellent 1994
Posted by brian in Les Paul Custom on April 12th, 2009
I bought this guitar from friend a few years ago, and have played it exclusively in church. It is all stock except the strap locks (I’ll include these and the original strap pins). My scale is not very accurate, but I get 8.5 lbs. According to the below info., this one is light. Itâ??s lighter than my 1960 Classic. There are slight nicks and scratches all around, and a place just in front of the bridge pickup where there is the slightest flaw in the nitro finish (I played it for two years before noticing it- non-photographical). Slight wearing of the nickel on the bridge and stop bar. All these are very small and only you will notice them, but I like to be completely up front.
Gibson stamped â??CLASSIC PLUSâ? in the bridge pickup cavity, and this is accompanied by a superimposed stamp, â??Checked on x2 1994â? Iâ??m not sure if it says â??2, 1994â?, or â??12, 1994â?. In any case, it was built in 1994. There are no issues with the guitar. The neck is not as thick as my 2005 1960 Classic- more like that of a Stratocaster; both pickups are very toneful, and the bridge pickup is particularly raucous. $70.00 flat-rate insured shipping to 48 continental United States. Domestic shipping only.
From the Gibson forum:
â??As history goes, J.T. Riboloff of the Custom Shop had been approached by a lot of players who asked him to build special one-off Les Pauls with slimmer profile necks as found on the 1960 Standard. After consultation with Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibsonâ??s CEO, a production version appeared in 1990. Classics had many features of reissue Les Pauls, including a smaller headstock, nickel hardware, ABR-1 bridge, Kluson style tuners, and vintage style knobs. For the first few years they did have the thin binding in the cutaway, but that changed by approximately 1993. To meet the demands of modern musicians seeking a high output sound, the Classics were equipped with hot 496R and 500T ceramic magnet pickups.
The original intention for the Classic model was to have plain tops, but given player demand for figured tops, the Classic Plus (with â??AAâ? grade flame tops) and Classic Premium Plus models (with â??AAAâ? grade flame tops) were introduced in 1992/93. The â??AAAâ? tops were supposed to be the most highly figured, with flame going from edge to edge, although there are some Classic Plus models with outstanding flame tops that rival their Classic Premium Plus brethren. Accounts vary on the exact start and end years, but the Les Paul Classic Premium Plus was introduced in the 1993 time frame, discontinued in 1997, and reintroduced from 1999 through 2001. The USA Classic Premium Plus models weights varied, but most are in the low 9 pound range.

We often get asked: Why are shipping costs so high? Well, first of all, we want you to get your guitar in one piece. So we use NEW boxes ($10 each) and new packing peanuts and bubblewrap. I also have an employee who packs guitars and amps like the pro that he is. Also, fuel prices have gone up alot, and UPS has passed this cost on to us.We also insure our items against loss or breakage. OK?
Overseas bidders: here’s the deal. You MAY bid. However, you must follow the rules of my auction. Please do NOT ask me to adjust the price so you can avoid paying import/VAT taxes. I will NOT break the law. Do not even think of asking me to declare a $4000 guitar for $600. No exceptions. Also, you will pay actual shipping prices via UPS ONLY. It’s expensive, around $300 because of rising fuel costs. I DO NOT ship United States Postal service. They have lost our last guitar. I insure our guitars for full price, to protect both of us if the guitar is lost or broken in transit. We love our Europeon customers, but please don’t ask us to break the law. With the U.S. dollar at 1.35/Euro, you’re getting a deal already. … Click For More Info

Gibson Les Paul Pre historic 1983 3-D Flame maple Top
Posted by brian in Les Paul Standard on April 10th, 2009
This guitar is in spectacular condition and 100% original. It shows only very minor play wear. No cracks, no scratches, no repairs, no refinishing. This guitar still looks new and has no tarnish or pitting on the nickel parts. Was a one owner, under the bed guitar that was never played out and spent most of the time in its case. It has an unusual amber top finish and a highly figured 3D book matched flame maple top. All solder joints are original and unmolested. This guitar has original Tim Shaw pick ups. The bridge pick up has the ink stamp number 13868 indicating a June production date. It has double white coils and measures 7.31K. The neck pick up also bears a faded illegible ink stamp number. It’s double black and measures 7.39K. The covers on both pick ups have never been removed. Both pick ups have a stamped patent number of 2737842.
Inside the neck pick up cavity inked under the finish are the letters HDSB and stamped Made In USA.
According to the Vintage Guitar Magazine article in 2004 by Mike Slubowski, Gibson finally released a Les Paul ReIssue model. For whatever reason, they were careful not to call it a ‘59 reissue. The ReIssue was an immediate hit with LP lovers, since it had features that were closer to the ‘59 such as thin binding on the cutaway, nickel hardware, ABR-1 bridge, vintage style knobs, and highly figured tops. None of the reissues had a long neck tenon. The serial number configuration is Y XXXX with the first number representing the year it was manufactured. These guitars vary in weight with the lightest at 8 lbs. 9 oz. and the heaviest at 10 lbs. 8oz.
This guitar is light weight, weighing about 9 lbs. on my bathroom scale. The pot codes show as 1378313 on two and 137830X on the other two (the last number is covered by solder). The serial number is 3 01XX which is inked on the back of the headstock under the finish. The last two numbers have been obscured in the photos for security purposes. A new hardshell case is included.
Shipping is $45 to the CONTINENTAL USA only. I will not accept offers from anywhere outside of the CONTINENTAL USA. Item will be professionally packed very well. I accept Paypal. I will ship item once payment has cleared. You are welcome to pick up the item but you must pay the Pennsylvania Sales Tax of 6%.
Thank you and good luck!
